La organización World Wildlife Fund advierte del peligro de seguir acumulando plásticos en todas sus formas, pues el desecho se complica cada vez más y va a dar a los mares, donde dañan a las especies porque son trampas donde quedan encerrados, al igual que afectan y bloquean el desarrollo de las zonas coralinas.
Se ha documentado como los peces quedan atrapados en bolsas de plástico sin poder salir hasta que mueren o diferentes especies del mar creen que las bolsas son comida a su vista, por lo que acaban muriendo con los estómagos llenos de plásticos y botellas.
Desde tu casa puedes evitar que las especies del mar queden atrapadas en las bolsas, es mejor que ya no las uses o reusa una y otra vez si ya tienes alguna. Al desecharlas ábrelas con tijeras para que no sean una trampa, júntalas y no las revuelvas con otros desperdicios. Tira bolsas con bolsas, botellas con botellas, pero mejor haz un esfuerzo y ya no uses plásticos en tu hogar, ayuda al planeta a seguir sobreviviendo, pese a la huella negra del humano.

La organización da unos tips para dejar las bolsas de plástico
1. Usar medios alternativos de empaque
es decir llevar las compras, siempre que sea posible, en la cartera, el morral, o bolsas reutilizables. Muchos almacenes también ofrecen cajas para empacar el mercado.
2. Recibir las bolsas solo cuando sea estrictamente necesario
vencer la costumbre de recibir bolsas de manera automática. Este nocivo hábito nos está pasando factura.
3. Reutilizar las bolsas que ya tenemos
Si ya tenemos una bolsa prolongar lo más posible su uso. Al reutilizar una bolsa nos aseguramos de no tener que pedir una nueva.
4. Evitar los envases de un solo uso
Aségurate cargar tus empaques para no pedir plásticos de un solo uso. Por ejemplo en las mañanas carga tu porta-café para que no uses vasos de unicel y empaques de ese tipo que solo se usan una vez y van a dar a la basura. Son trampas para las especies del mar cuando llegan ahí.
5. Seguir las normas del reciclaje
No mezclar papel, plástico y cartón en el mismo contenedor de basura, es indispensable que los desechos estén separados. Las bolsas de plástico pueden ir en puntos ecológicos especiales, dispuestos en diferentes puntos de la ciudad.
6. Nunca botar bolsas de plástico en vertederos que lleguen a ríos y océanos
Es uno de los principales contaminantes de los ecosistemas marinos.
