TOLUCA, ESTADO DE MÉXICO.- Durante el último año, el Instituto Materno Infantil del Estado de México (IMIEM), a través del Hospital para el Niño, llevó a cabo 64 cirugías de corazón, para evitar complicaciones y mejorar el estado de salud de la población pediátrica que sufre cardiopatías congénitas.
Dicho hospital también brinda anualmente más de 4 mil consultas relacionadas con esta enfermedad, además de realizar mil 500 ecocardiogramas, que son ultrasonidos especializados en corazón, que ayudan a contar con un diagnóstico certero.
En el marco del Día Internacional de las Cardiopatías Congénitas, se realizó el primer curso monográfico “Cuidando el corazón de nuestros niños”, al que asistieron 150 médicos y residentes, quienes acudieron a seis conferencias magistrales con temáticas sobre detección prenatal de cardiopatías congénitas, tratamiento quirúrgico de esta enfermedad y su cuidado postquirúrgico.
Con estas acciones, el Secretario de Salud, Gabriel O’Shea Cuevas, mantiene el compromiso del Gobernador Alfredo Del Mazo de ofrecer calidad en los servicios de salud y atención especializada a los bebés, niñas, niños y adolescentes que se atienden en hospitales públicos del Gobierno mexiquense.
Las cardiopatías congénitas se presentan en dos de cada mil nacidos vivos, por ello este nosocomio del IMIEM brinda atención para tratar afectaciones que impiden un adecuado funcionamiento del sistema circulatorio.
Finalmente, especialistas del Hospital para el Niño recomiendan a los padres de familia llevar a sus hijos al Centro de Salud más cercano si presentan fatiga, bajo peso o rendimiento físico, coloración azul en boca y notables palpitaciones, ya que son síntomas característicos de problemas en el corazón.
