CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.- La Secretaría de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural impulsará la acuacultura en las zonas áridas y semiáridas del territorio nacional; en su primera etapa, iniciará en los estados de Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí y Coahuila.
Para realizar este modelo productivo, las comisiones nacionales de Acuacultura y Pesca (Conapesca) y de Zonas Áridas (Conaza) firmaron un convenio de colaboración con el objetivo de conjuntar acciones para el máximo aprovechamiento de los recursos acuícolas en las zonas áridas del país.
Los dos organismos de Agricultura desarrollarán un modelo de acuacultura integral en las cuencas y cuerpos de agua construidos por la Conaza para captación del líquido, informó Agricultura.
En los estados de Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí y Coahuila se reactivará la infraestructura reproductora de alevines, cuya producción se destinará a las cuencas en las que operará el programa.
A través de esta colaboración institucional se fomentará y regulará el aprovechamiento sustentable del recurso acuícola para promover el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de las comunidades que se asientan en las zonas áridas del país, detalló la dependencia federal.
Indicó que el convenio reorientará proyectos de alto impacto social y económico para avanzar hacia la autosuficiencia alimentaria con la producción de alimentos de productos acuícolas de importante valor nutricional.
El Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) también participará en el programa mediante asesoría técnica, agregó la Secretaría.
El comisionado nacional de Acuacultura y Pesca, Raúl Elenes Angulo, destacó que el convenio permitirá la ejecución de proyectos acuícolas en beneficio de los sectores sociales y productivos que habitan en las zonas áridas de México.
El propósito de ambos organismos, dijo, es el de trabajar de manera coordinada para brindar asistencia técnica en proyectos de acuacultura que puedan ser viables en determinados territorios y luego replicarse en más zonas áridas.
El director general de la Conaza, Ramón Sandoval Noriega, expresó el interés del organismo de promover instrumentos de colaboración que redunden en el impulso a proyectos productivos, como es el caso de los vinculados con la acuacultura.
De acuerdo con la Conaza, cerca del 60 por ciento del territorio nacional se considera dentro de las zonas áridas y semiáridas, y 58 por ciento de la población del país reside en éstas.
