CIUDAD DE MÉXICO, 10 de enero (AlMomentoMX).— El cantante R. Kelly está siendo investigado en Georgia, Estados Unidos, por
una serie de acusaciones de acoso sexual
reiterado y abuso psicológico por varias de sus exparejas. Las denuncias salieron
a la luz gracias a un documental emitido en la cadena Lifetime.
Pese a que el cantante ha desmentido
estas acusaciones, Surviving R. Kelly, la serie documental reveló que el tres
veces ganador del Grammy convivió con mujeres que trataba como esclavas. Las
presuntas víctimas denunciaron que el intérprete de “I
believe I can fly” las tenía sometidas a un aislamiento absoluto en su
casa.
Ante estas nuevas revelaciones, la
cantante Lady Gaga quiere eliminar
de las plataformas de streaming la canción “Do What U Want” que estrenó en 2013 a dueto con R. Kelly. “Tengo
la intención de eliminar la canción de iTunes y otras plataformas de streaming”,
afirmó.
“Estoy detrás de estas mujeres
al mil por ciento. Créelas, sé que están sufriendo y con dolor, y siento
firmemente que sus voces deben ser escuchadas y tomadas en serio. Lo que
escucho sobre las acusaciones contra R. Kelly es absolutamente horrible e
indefendible”, sostuvo Gaga en sus historias de Instagram.
“Como víctima de asalto sexual,
hice la canción y el video en un momento oscuro de mi vida, mi intención era
crear algo extremadamente desafiante y provocativo porque estaba enojada y
todavía no había procesado el trauma que había ocurrido en mi propia
vida”, añadió.
Gaga, quien ha declarado públicamente
que fue agredida sexualmente cuando tenía 19 años, indicó que sus palabras no
son excusas, y que sólo busca explicar qué fue lo que la llevó a realizar esa
grabación. Además, aseguró que nunca volverá a trabajar con R. Kelly. “Lo siento,
tanto por mi mal juicio cuando era joven, como por no hablar antes”.
“No puedo regresar, pero puedo
seguir adelante y continuar apoyando a mujeres, hombres y personas de todas las
identidades sexuales, y de todas las razas, que son víctimas de agresión
sexual”, apuntó Gaga.
“Do What U Want” fue el segundo sencillo del disco ARTPOP, alcanzó
el puesto número 13 en el Billboard Hot 100. La canción fue instantáneamente
controversial, y aún así, la interpretó en vivo con Kelly en Saturday Night
Live y durante los American Music Awards. Poco después, Gaga reemplazó al
cantante con Christina Aguilera.
